Eight restaurants in Northeast Florida have earned spots on Michelin’s Florida guide, including two that promise more bang for your buck.
For more than a century, the Michelin Guide has promised readers insight into the best places to eat while they travel. These days, Michelin’s guide has nearly 20,000 recommendations across the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Florida sports 26 restaurants with one or more Michelin Star, a distinction given to restaurants that the French tire manufacturer deems to be the best of the best. All of those restaurants are in Central or South Florida — that’s where the Michelin Guide has previously focused its energy.
This year, the guide expanded to cover the entire state, and while no Northeast Florida restaurants have received a Michelin Star yet, eight spots across Jacksonville, Atlantic Beach, Amelia Island and St. Augustine have been added to the Michelin Guide’s recommendation list.
Michelin’s local recommendations
In Jacksonville, the Michelin Guide recommends two San Marco eateries — The Bearded Pig and Rue St. Marc.
The Bearded Pig offers barbecue, while Rue Saint-Marc’s menu is focused on French dining.

Michelin also recommends Eggboy in Atlantic Beach and Salt in Amelia Island.
Salt, located inside The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, is an upscale eatery that offers caviar, Wagyu beef and more. Eggboy is all about sandwiches and eggs — breakfast sandwiches, burgers, burritos.
Eggboy Chef Raymond Johnston calls the Mayport restaurant “the new American diner.”
He says the staff were emotional when they heard that Eggboy made the cut for Michelin’s guide.
“We’ve gotten so much love from the local area,” he says. “To be recognized like this is huge.”
Working as a chef since he was a teenager, Johnston says the Michelin Guide has always been in the back of his mind.
“Imagine you’re playing football in middle school and you’re thinking about going to the NFL. We never even thought the Michelin Guide would come here,” he says. “It was kind of a shock.”
St. Augustine eats
In St. Augustine, four new restaurants made the list, including two that received Michelin’s Bib Gourmand distinction for “great food at a great value.”
Lotus Noodle Bar in the downtown historic district and Asado Life — a riverfront restaurant offering seafood, steaks and more — on the south bank of the Matanzas River are new additions to the Michelin Guide’s recommendations.

As for the Bib Gourmand choices, the guide identifies Bar Citra, a coffee shop, restaurant and wine bar along U.S. 1, and Sunday, a coffee shop, bakehouse and restaurant in St. Augustine’s Uptown neighborhood.
Bar Citra first opened in 2024, and owner Andrew Deming — who runs the shop with his wife, Rachel Gant — says the recognition feels like acknowledgment of the entire staff’s hard work.
“It’s a really nice encouragement that people do see what we’re building here and do really appreciate it,” Deming says.
