Two Harveys Supermarkets in Jacksonville will soon become Winn-Dixie stores.
The stores are at 5909 University Blvd. W. and 5250 Moncrief Road W. They are among seven Harveys stores that are becoming Winn-Dixies in Florida and southern Georgia.
The company did not announce when the stores would change over.
Harveys Rewards customers can transition to the Winn-Dixie Rewards app. Their existing points will transfer. Customers simply need to download the Winn-Dixie app and enter their phone number — no new sign-up is required.
The conversions are part of the transition of Southeastern Grocers to a new identity as The Winn-Dixie Co., which is refocusing its brand on Florida and southern Georgia.
German grocery store company Aldi bought Winn-Dixie and Harveys grocery stores last year from Southeastern in a $9 billion plan to expand Aldi’s nationwide footprint.
Then in February, a consortium of private investors acquired Southeastern from Aldi. Hucker and C&S Wholesale Grocers, a long-time supplier for the company, spearheaded the deal.
The Winn-Dixie Co. announced its rebranding in October and said it would move forward with about 130 conventional grocery stores and 140 freestanding and grocery-adjacent liquor stores in Florida and southern Georgia.
Plans included:
- Expanding the liquor store portfolio
- Opening new stores in North Florida but pull back from several states
- Growing its Own Brand products and return its iconic Lip Lickin’ Chicken
- Piloting new features such as third-party online grocery delivery and return kiosks. (Southeastern announced in September that customers could now order Winn-Dixie groceries on Amazon.
