Just hours later, another quadruple shooting was reported at a separate street party on Jacksonville’s Eastside. Then on Sunday afternoon, two men were shot after a heated argument in the parking lot of a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Mandarin escalated to a shootout.

Here’s a breakdown of the shootings over the weekend:

Shooting in Jax Beach

One juvenile and three adults were shot Saturday evening in the area of Beach Boulevard and Third Street during a “takeover” event, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.

The incident happened not far from the Seawalk Music Festival, but Jacksonville Beach Mayor Christine Hoffman made it clear the “takeover” was separate from the festival.

“I want to make no mistake, there was a separate takeover event that was not permitted,” Hoffman said. “The organizers of the event, again, we are going to hold them as accountable as we possibly can.”

Jacksonville Beach Police Sgt. Tonya Tator said a group of people were in an altercation, then shots were fired.

According to Tator, none of the four people hurt had life-threatening injuries.

This shooting came just a week after a shooting at Avenues Mall during a “teen takeover.”

Earlier this week, community leaders and law enforcement talked about how to prevent these large teen takeovers and urged organizers to coordinate with adults and authorities to make the events safer.

Street party on Eastside

Hours after the quadruple shooting in Jacksonville Beach, another four people were injured in a shooting at a completely separate street party on Jacksonville’s Eastside.

Just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a ShotSpotter call on Jessie Street near A Philip Randolph Boulevard, said Lt. Frederick Dash with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Robbery and Violent Crimes Section.

They found a 34-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. Paramedics took her to a hospital.

Not long after, three other adults showed up at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds. They included two men, ages 37 and 43, and a woman, age 39.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, and all four victims were in stable condition.

“Based on the evidence on the scene and ShotSpotter, anywhere from 12 to 15 shots (were fired),” Dash said.

They are still searching for suspects and a motive for the shooting, but Dash said the incident does not appear to be gang-related.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500, at Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS, or they can leave an online tip atJSOCrimetips@Jaxsheriff.org.

Lowe’s in Mandarin

On Sunday afternoon, two men were shot after a heated argument in the parking lot of a Lowe’s Home Improvement store on Oldfield Crossing Drive in Mandarin escalated to a shootout.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the two men got into an argument in the Lowe’s parking lot, which led to both men shooting at each other.

After the shooting, officers located a vehicle involved in the incident near Old St. Augustine Road and Bartram Park Boulevard. Police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the wrist.

A man in his 20s was hit in the stomach and chest and taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, the Sheriff’s Office said. The other man, who was shot in the wrist, did not have a life-threatening injury.
