The St. Johns Cultural Council was just awarded a $60,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The grant funds SJCC’s Arts for All Grant Program, which provides grants of up to $10,000 to small arts, culture and heritage organizations. In past years, the program has supported initiatives like in-school dance lessons at Title 1 schools, an Afrobeat musician’s local tour and a photography exhibition showcasing female veterans. The grant will allow the program to award a total of $70,000 this year — $20,000 more than last year. The Cultural Council says it will prioritize projects in underserved rural areas, but encourages arts organizations across St. Johns County to apply. Applications open Oct. 15.
