The Jacksonville flights are part of a larger expansion across the country. The airline, based in Las Vegas, announced 44 new nonstop flights a day after Spirit Airlines, another discount carrier, filed for bankruptcy.

Allegiant said the new flights were one of the largest expansions in its history.
