The Shands crosses the St. Johns River between Clay and St. Johns counties. It is a popular route from the west side of the river to St. Augustine.

Drivers will need to detour on State Road 13, Interstate 295 and U.S. 17. State Road 16 on either side of the bridge will remain open to local traffic only.
