The University of Florida ceremonially opened its Jacksonville graduate campus Wednesday, as university and community leaders gathered to cut the ribbon on the first classroom building for its Northeast Florida expansion.
“We’re here to celebrate UF Jacksonville, a bold investment in this city, this region and our great state. We are here to show that when a top-tier university and a top-tier city unite around a shared vision, there is no limit to what can be accomplished,” said Mori Husseini, chair of the UF board of trustees, during the event at the former Interline Brands building at 801 W. Bay St.

UF repurposed the two-story, 38,136-square-foot building for classroom use as part of what is envisioned as a campus that will stretch from that property west to Interstate 95.
