Players for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp often get called up to play for the team’s Major League Baseball affiliate, the Miami Marlins — in fact, eight have made the jump this year. But now, the Triple-A team’s Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations Scott Kornberg has been called up to join them too. You may recognize Kornberg’s voice as the play-by-play announcer during Shrimp games and on ESPN 690 AM. Now he’s taking his voice to the big leagues and joining the Marlins Radio Network to announce nine games this summer. Kornberg, who is also the voice of Jacksonville University women’s basketball on ESPN Plus, says, “I recognize how lucky I am, in that an opportunity like this does not always come to my colleagues in the minor leagues.”
