The U.S. Navy recently recognized a sensational local sailor for her work while deployed on the USS New Orleans in the Pacific. Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class Sarah Svejkovsky, from Jacksonville, was named Sailor of the Year at a ceremony in Sasebo, Japan, earlier this month. The award honors sailors who best represent the ideals of the Navy while serving their country.
