Northeast Florida organization Dreams Come True, which is dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of local children battling life-threatening medical conditions, just celebrated its 40th anniversary in a big way: raising $1 million at its annual Royal Gala Ball, where it also fulfilled its 5,000th dream. Ten-year old John Bertram Lancaster, who suffers from kidney cancer, was surprised on stage with a six-day family trip to Lake Tahoe so he can have fun in the snow. Dreams Come True is currently helping about 600 children achieve their dreams.
