100 EV charging stations coming to Jax

Look for more electric vehicle chargers to be installed across Jacksonville.

The city, JEA and Florida State College at Jacksonville are getting get nearly $3 million in federal money to put in charging stations.

The grant from the Federal Highway Administration will pay for 100 more chargers across public spaces and educational campuses in Jacksonville. 

The funding, part of the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program, will help address the region’s growing EV infrastructure gap. It also will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in underserved communities, officials said. 

The grant funding will pay for chargers at six FSCJ campuses and four city of Jacksonville public sites. The charger expansion marks a 62% increase in the city’s existing network and they will be  accessible to residents, students and visitors.

Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan said she considers the grant a bold step toward creating a greener, healthier city.
