Jacksonville’s Veterans Day Parade this Saturday will travel Bay Street

Jacksonville’s Veterans Day Parade kicks off at 11:01 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, on Gator Bowl Boulevard behind Daily’s Place, with U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Douglas Burnett as grand marshal.

The parade route goes west on Bay Street and ends at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

Mayor Donna Deegan will participate in the annual event, as will Bishop Rudolph McKissick, Sr., one of Jacksonville’s oldest veterans, at 96.

“Jacksonville is a proud military town and it’s exciting to be part of this tradition,” Deegan said in a news release.

Multiple road and bridge closures are planned to allow for the parade through Downtown:

  • 6 a.m.- Talleyrand Avenue closed from Gator Bowl Boulevard to Duval Street.
  • 6 a.m.- Bryan Street closed from Adams to Duval streets.
  • 8:30 a.m.- Gator Bowl Boulevard eastbound closed from A. Philip Randolph Boulevard to Talleyrand Avenue
  • 10:30 a.m.- Main Street Bridge and Acosta Bridge closed
  • 10:30 a.m.- Lee Street closed from Water to Forsyth streets
  • 11:01 a.m.- Bay Street intersections close as the parade heads west to the Prime Osborn Convention Center, until approximately 2 p.m.

All road closures will end at 3 p.m., or as soon as the end of the parade exits the area.
