Friday

Summer at the Cummer

Cummer Museum & Gardens | Riverside

The popular Summer at the Cummer series is back, kicking off an entire season of free-to-attend Friday programming. Each Friday this summer, the Cummer offers a unique way to enjoy its historic gardens and the exhibits currently on view within the museum, with drinks, live music, lawn games and special programming related to ongoing exhibits. This week’s event, which includes musical performances by local singer-songwriter Connor Hickey and jazz vocalist Akia Uwanda, represents a great opportunity to get a peek at the new exhibition American Made, a survey of 200 years of creativity through the paintings and sculptures of U.S. artists. Admission is free from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. More info here.

Saturday & Sunday

Bluey’s Big Play

Moran Theater | Downtown Jacksonville

If you have a child under a certain age, you are likely familiar with Bluey, the Australian Broadcasting Company-produced children’s program that has become an mega sensation in the U.S. If, like me, you’re a father, you might even be familiar with the memes or satirical essays regarding the unattainable paternal standards set by Bluey’s dad. In any event, a new production brings the inarguably entertaining, Emmy-winning series to the stage for Bluey’s Big Play, with four performances scheduled this weekend at the Moran Theater inside the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts. The performances are held on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m and 6 p.m. Tickets and info here.
