Heat Fest

Intuition Ale Works | Downtown Jacksonville

Even the Duval-based country band Dean Winter and the Heat couldn’t have predicted the record-breaking temps on offer in North Florida when the group dubbed Saturday’s vinyl-record-release show Heat Fest. On Saturday, the DW&TH headlines a lineup of country, folk and Americana acts, including Rambler Kane, Billy Gilmore, Patsy’s Daydream and more, in celebration of the release of the band’s debut full-length, Wheel of Bliss, on vinyl. As a primer: Dean Winter talked to the Jacksonville Music Experience about songwriting and 21st century country music. Heat Fest kicks off at 6 p.m. Tickets and more information: intuitionaleworks.com

Rain Dogs 10-Year Anniversary

Rain Dogs | Five Points

Despite its pint-sized capacity, the backroom of beloved Riverside watering hole Rain Dogs has played an outsized role in the local music scene since opening its doors in 2013. Owned and operated by Christina Wagner, a talented singer-songwriter in her own right, Rain Dogs has been a place to see under-the-radar touring acts, while always leaving room on its stage for any upstart locals ready to put their chops on display. This weekend Rain Dogs celebrates 10 years in the biz with three days of music. The lineup features local standouts and Rain Dogs regulars. It’s just one of several musical happenings worth checking out this week. More information: facebook.com/raindogsjax
