Milagros: Flutter Zone
Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville | Downtown Jacksonville
Florida-bred arts collective Milagros returns to Jacksonville to celebrate the installation of the latest Project Atrium exhibit, Flutter Zone. Made up of artists Felici Asteinza and Joey Fillastre, the New Orleans-based Milagros first came to Jacksonville for the installation of their 50-foot-panel mural on the northeast corner of the Yates parking garage on Adams Street. For the site-specific Flutter Zone, Asteinza and Fillastre deployed their full toolkit of buoyant mark-making, repetition and color to create an immersive, interactive experience in MOCA’s hallowed atrium. An opening exhibition and preview is held Friday night from 7 p.m-8:30 p.m. It’s free to attend. More info here.
Saturday
Palms Market
Hotel Palms | Atlantic Beach
Locally made art-inspired and artisan-crafted gifts abound at the Palms Market, the popular annual event curated by Atlantic Beach’s artsy Hotel Palms. Of note, locally flavored wall hangers from Shark Tooth Prints and Mera Maps, wearables from Barbershop Press and Couture Gems, and tasties from Makenu Chocolate. A great way to both check loved ones off your holiday shopping list and support local. Market is open to the public from 5p.m.-10p.m. More info here.
Saturday
Video Killed the Radio Star: A Jax Music Video Watch Party
The Walrus | Murray Hill
Do people still watch music videos? Yes. Yes they do. It’s estimated that YouTube consumers spend roughly 250 million hours a day watching music content. And surely some of that time is spent watching the many visuals created by Jax musicians. The Jacksonville Music Experience is supporting this local music video watch party at Murray Hill’s The Walrus. The event includes a screening of Jax artist-made music videos with live performances by local acts Teal Peel, Visitation, Sib and more. Proceeds go to support the mission of White Harvest Farms, which provides nutritional food services to low-income communities. The event is free to attend. Suggested donation: $10-20. More info here.
