Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan will host another series of town hall meetings to discuss the $2.026 billion budget she presented to City Council on Monday.
The general fund budget was a 1.1%, $22.58 million increase over this year, driven by salary increases for police and fire employees.

Deegan is trying again to get council to approve and seed an affordable housing trust fund. She also is touting a $13.2 million jump to $35.94 million in road resurfacing throughout Duval County and $25 million to address aging septic tanks in the city’s historically underserved neighborhoods.
The mayor says the town hall meetings in August and September will let her “continue the conversation with citizens about how we can make Jacksonville even stronger.”

City Council must approve the new budget by Sept. 28 for it to take effect Oct. 1.
