Bad news for St. Johns County fishers: The pier on St. Augustine Beach will close for repairs Wednesday, and the repairs aren’t expected to be finished until November.
Beach renourishment in 2024 lowered the water level around the pier enough to expose the pillars that are normally underwater, and inspectors found that the pillars had decayed.

The work will ensure the safety and longevity of the pier.
Access under the pier will be restricted, and swimmers and surfers should stay 500 feet away.
The northern beach access point also will be closed during construction. The pier gift shop will remain open.
