The Florida Department of Transportation is again asking drivers to plan ahead after scheduling continuous southbound lane closures on Interstate 295 over the Buckman Bridge.
That’s headed from Orange Park into Mandarin.
Two lanes of I-295 South will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 4 a.m. Monday, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible and allow extra travel time.
The lane closures are part of a larger project to replace finger joints on the Buckman Bridge. The work also includes partial coatings and structural steel repairs.
FDOT awarded the $5.4 million contract for the improvements to Cekra Inc. The department expects the project to be complete in summer 2026.
