Nassau County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tyler Hohman recently saved a life while he was off duty. Hohman was at home when he heard screams. When he ran outside, he spotted a young girl struggling in a retention pond. Hohman jumped into action to pull the girl from the water, but she had lost consciousness and stopped breathing. After he gave the girl CPR, she started responding, and she was soon airlifted to a hospital. The girl, Bonnie, is now doing well, and Hohman was able to visit her and her family after she recovered. “Seeing her smile and run around was the best thing I could have hoped for,” Hohman said. “Moments like that remind you exactly why we do this job.”
