Jacksonville International Airport’s new Concourse B is planned for a ribbon-cutting Jan. 27, and American Airlines is expected to start flights from the six added gates Jan. 28.

Tony Cugno, chief operaing officer of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, told the City Council Finance Committee last week that the Airport Authority expects the city to provide a certificate of occupancy Dec. 30. The city says a Certificate of Occupancy is issued when all required city inspections have been passed, after which the owner may occupy the building.

The time from Dec. 30 to Jan. 27 will provide time for new vendors on the concourse to set up operations, Cugno said.
