The Story of Jazz: Part 1: New Orleans Jazz Party

Saturday

Story and Song | Fernandina Beach

If you’re experiencing jazz withdrawal after last weekend’s Jacksonville Jazz Fest, fear not! You can catch the dynamic Les DeMerle and his band as they take you back to the birthplace of jazz. The New Orleans Jazz Party performance kicks off the venue’s four-part monthly Story of Jazz series, where you can enjoy a great live concert while also learning a bit about the history of the genre and how it evolved.

1430 Park Ave., Fernandina Beach | Tickets: $35 | Cash bar | Tickets and more info

The Pop-Out

Sunday

Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park | LaVilla

Get an early start on Black Music Month celebrations by heading to Jacksonville’s historic Lift Ev’ry Voice & Sing Park this Sunday for The Pop-Out. This free, family-friendly live music concert series (this is the first of three shows) honors the rich cultural history of LaVilla and the legacy of “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” lyricist James Weldon Johnson, who grew up in the neighborhood. The event offers a vibrant lineup of local and regional artists and DJs, along with food trucks and local vendors. Grab your lawn chairs and head Downtown to enjoy some great community vibes.
