More than 100 people participated in the third annual Neighborhoods United Cleanup in Northwest Jacksonville on Saturday. Volunteers wore lime green T-shirts that said “Put your trash in a can, not on our land!” They collected along streets and empty lots in Moncrief, Brentwood, Magnolia Gardens and Grand Park neighborhoods. Longtime Grand Park resident Christine Watson-McCloud was picking up trash on Almeda Street. “I’m a people person. I love people smiling,” Watson-McCloud said. “I love people together. Even picking up trash is togetherness. And, that, I love.” Saturday’s cleanup was a leadup to Earth Day tomorrow. Organizers partnered with the city of Jacksonville to dispose of the garbage today.
