Knowing the West

Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens | Riverside

Step into a fresh perspective on the American West on the opening weekend of Knowing the West, a traveling exhibition that challenges and expands traditional narratives. Organized by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the collection brings together diverse works from the 19th and early 20th centuries, offering a rich, inclusive portrayal of the landscapes, people and histories that shaped the region.

Art in the Park

James Weldon Johnson Park | Downtown

Watch the sidewalks of James Weldon Johnson Park transform into stunning works of art as Art in the Park, Northeast Florida’s only chalk drawing competition, returns for its fifth year. This year’s theme, Full STEAM Into the Future, promises creative takes on science, technology, engineering, art and math. As artists race against the clock to complete their large-scale pieces, watch the magic unfold, chat with the creators, and vote for your favorite design.

Levitation Room

WJCT Sound Stage | Downtown

Los Angeles psych-rockers Levitation Room bring their cosmic, garage-blues sound to the WJCT Soundstage as part of the Jacksonville Music Experience’s Soundstage Series. A staple of the international psych scene, the band has built a reputation for electrifying, sold-out shows across the U.S. and Europe. Their 2024 album, Strange Weather, blends primitive rock ‘n’ roll with swirling psychedelia—perfect for fans of The Kinks, Allah-Las, and The Rolling Stones.

Jacksonville’s Patsy’s Daydream opens at 7 p.m. with vintage-country sounds, followed by Miami’s Ben Katzman’s DeGreaser at 8, bringing high-energy rock and shredding guitar riffs. Levitation Room takes the stage at 9 p.m.
