Fernandina Beach Realtor Stacy Horst was recently honored by the National Association of Realtors for her charity that supports young people on the autism spectrum. Horst’s daughter Erin, who was on the spectrum and struggled to make friends, tragically took her own life at age 17. Horst and her husband believed more social support would have helped, and they founded the nonprofit Erin’s Hope for Friends, which provides safe in-person and online spaces for young people with autism to socialize. Horst, who was awarded a total of $20,000 for her organization, says she aims to expand Erin’s Hope until it’s just as prevalent nationally as Boys & Girls Clubs.
