The Jacksonville Zoo is celebrating the birth of another adorable baby: a critically endangered male eastern bongo. The unnamed calf was born on Feb. 19 to first-time mom Cayenne. Bongos are native to Africa’s forests and have been hunted nearly to extinction, so any birth is a positive step. Baby and mom are healthy and doing well, and you’ll be able to visit them in the zoo’s Africa Loop when they’re ready for the spotlight.
