Hundreds of people participated and scores more watched along the route of the city’s 44th Martin Luther King Jr. Grand Parade on Monday morning in Downtown Jacksonville. The parade was delayed by a month when the temperature dropped into the 30s on Martin Luther King Day. Dance troupes, labor unions, churches, schools and high school marching bands joined the parade alongside some of the region’s largest employers like VyStar Credit Union, CSX and Baptist Health. The Divine Nine also marched in the parade, led by King’s Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, as Jacksonville celebrated the titan of Black history during Black History Month.
