Published on January 5, 2024 at 10:47 am

Trash pickup in Fernandina Beach will be scaled back to once a week beginning Monday.

The City Commission agreed to cut back from twice-weekly service when it approved a new contract seven months ago with WM, formerly known as Waste Management.

Each residence will find an informational brochure attached to their trash cart with information about their new service day. The city also said postcards would be mailed to residents with additional information.

WM currently provides a 95-gallon blue cart for trash collection, which should be set on the street by 6 a.m. on collection days. All trash should be bagged.

More information is available on the city’s website and at WM’s site.
