School bus delays raise heat concerns

Duval County Public Schools sent a message to parents Sunday warning of “significant delays” on many of its bus routes on the first day of school Monday.

The school district said its contractors are more than 130 drivers short out of their 800 positions.

Families were advised to be sure children have plenty of water in the extreme heat as they wait for buses.
