Friday
Dweezil Zappa: Rox(Postroph)y
Florida Theatre | Downtown Jacksonville
An iconoclastic artist and composer of more than 120 albums, Frank Zappa continues to inspire a uniquely ardent kind of fandom decades after his death. On Friday, guitarist and son of the famed musician Dweezil Zappa and his crack band celebrate the 50th anniversary of two of his father’s groundbreaking works, Apostrophe (‘) and Roxy & Elsewhere, at the Florida Theatre. Both the Zappa-curious and “Lifers” (as these devoted fans are called) are sure to find something endearing in the performance. For a nice primer: Read the Jacksonville Music Experience’s interview with Dweezil Zappa. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets and more info.

Nature: Re:Wired
MOCA | Downtown Jacksonville
An exhibition of new works by University of North Florida Student Artist-In-Residence Dustin Sims is on view at MOCA. The exhibition is on view through May 18. The museum is open from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is free on Saturday. More info.
