Maj. Scott Surrency was put on leave Tuesday while an internal investigation and operation audit take place at the jail, the sheriff said.

The Sheriff’s Office said it cannot comment on the reasons for the leave due to department policy and state statutes.

Capt. Clayton Silva has been named as interim director of corrections during Surrency’s absence, DeLoach said.
