JaxByJax Literary Arts Festival 

FSCJ Kent Campus | Avondale

The signature local celebration of the literary arts JaxbyJax celebrates its 10th anniversary with a three-day festival at FSCJ’s Kent Campus. Jacksonville-based writers will share work written in and about Jacksonville. Highlights from this year’s festival lineup include readings by former Jacksonville Sheriff Nat Glover, current Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan and the release of an anthology series prepared by the local Women Writing for a Change organization, as well as several workshops and a student showcase. Joyce Young with the Jacksonville Symphony 

Jacoby Symphony Hall | Downtown Jacksonville

Award-winning Korean-born piano prodigy Joyce Young and the Jacksonville Symphony tackle compositions by Tchaickovsky and 20th century American composer Samuel Barber. Highlights include a take on Barber’s 1962 “Piano Concerto, Op. 38” and Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Tickets and more info.

PHX Holiday Art Fair and Makers Market  

The Bunker | Phoenix Arts & Innovation District 

A great opportunity to shop thoughtfully and locally — and to check in the on the progress of the newly bustling Phoenix Arts & Innovation District — the PHX Holiday Art Fair and Makers Market kicks off on Saturday at 11 a.m. with dozens of local artists and artisans on hand, as well as food trucks and live music. The market is held at The Bunker at 2402 Market St. (at the northwest corner of Market and 14th streets). Admission is free. More info.
