The Uncharted Self

An exhibition of new works by visual artist Dimelza Broche is on view at Fairfax contemporary gallery Touché. In The Uncharted Self Broche dives deep into her own memory palace, exploring the concept of self and its relationship to one’s own body through drawings, paintings, collage and handmade frames. An opening reception is held at the gallery, at 4070 Herschel St., Suite 3, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. on Friday. It’s free to attend. More info.

Native American Arts Festival

November is Native American Heritage Month, and the Museum of Science and History is celebrating with a two-day cultural festival. The immersive educational experience includes dance and music performances, drum and dance lessons, a frybread cooking demonstration and discussion panels, with performers and vendors representing 10 tribal heritages from across the U.S. The festival is held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m on both Friday and Saturday. Mahler’s Symphony for Alma

The 2023-2024 Jacksonville Symphony season is rolling right along. This weekend, conductor Courtney Lewis and Co. take on the music of Gustav Mahler, specifically the Austrian romantic composer’s epic Symphony for Alma. Both Friday and Saturday performances start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets and more info.
