Through Our Eyes: 30th Anniversary Exhibit

Ritz Theatre and Museum | LaVilla 

The Ritz Theatre and Museum, which houses artifacts from the historically important Black neighborhood of LaVilla – once known as the “Harlem of the South” – celebrates 30 years of its popular visual art series Through Our Eyes with a new exhibition of works by past-exhibiting artists. The anniversary exhibition, which opens on Thursday, Sept. 14, also celebrates the stewardship of the institution’s founder, Lydia P. Stewart. An opening reception is held on Thursday (6 p.m.). Through Our Eyes is on view at the Ritz Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. More info.

Florida Fin Fest

Seawalk Pavilion | Jacksonville Beach 

The Florida Fin Fest kicks off two days of music and ocean-centric educational programming at the Seawalk Pavilion in Jax Beach on Friday with California reggae group Fortunate Youth, among several other local and nationally touring acts. Grammy-nominated Tiny Desk Contest winners Tank and the Bangas headline Saturday’s lineup, which also features Afro-Caribbean artist Cimafunk and Jax salsa orchestra LPT. It’s free to attend. Project Atrium: Rowland Ricketts, BOW

MOCA | Downtown Jacksonville 

MOCA Jacksonville’s bold installation series once again transforms the museum’s atrium with an immersive exhibition. For the latest Project Atrium exhibit, contemporary fiber artist Rowland Ricketts engages the natural world through his singular approach, adapting handwoven and hand-dyed cloth for a site specific installation called BOW. The community is invited to preview the exhibit on Thursday night (7 p.m.), and the museum is open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. More info.
