New Jack City Live

NAACP Trailblazer Award recipient and National Champion playwright Je’caryous Johnson is behind this stage adaptation of New Jack City, the beloved Mario Van Peebles film from 1991. Allen Payne, who played Gee Money, reprises his role from the film for New Jack City Live Friday at the Moran Theater inside the Jacksonville Center Performing Arts. The Wild, Wild West: Classics from the Silver Screen

Jacoby Symphony Hall | Downtown Jacksonville

Associate conductor Kevin Fitzgerald leads the Jacksonville Symphony through the familiar scores of classic Westerns, including selections from The Magnificent Seven, High Noon and the longtime Sergio Leone collaborator Ennio Morricone-penned theme from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The symphony presents a Coffee Series production of The Wild, Wild West: Classics from the Silver Screen on Friday (11 a.m.), as well as performances in Jacoby Symphony Hall on Friday (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (7:30 p.m.). The Art of the Figure Workshop

MOCA | Downtown Jacksonville

Local multi-disciplinary artist William McMahan leads a two-hour figure drawing workshop at MOCA Jacksonville on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m. MOCA’s life-drawing series is designed for artists of all levels of experience and focuses on essential figure drawing skills, including general proportions and anatomical landmarks. Participants study a live nude model, and learn techniques to create dynamic figures. BYOB materials. Newsprint and charcoal are recommended, but any drawing medium is acceptable.
