Floribunda opening reception

Saturday

CoRK Arts District | Jacksonville

Floribunda is back! First held in April of 2024, this is easily my favorite art show in town, and the Ixia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and CoRK Arts District are teaming up to bring it back for a second run. It features work from over 100 contemporary artists, all focused on Florida’s native plants, wildlife and natural landscapes. The opening reception is Saturday night, complete with beer, wine, food trucks, and music from DJ John Drum. A portion of all art sales goes directly toward supporting native plant conservation here in our community. The exhibition will stay on view through Oct. 25.

Opening reception: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. | 2689 Rosselle St. | Free admission | More info

Mark has spent his career educating the public on crocodilians, from building displays at Marineland to creating art and education projects for global conservation groups. Sunday’s presentation focuses on crocodile conservation and his work in the field. Drop in to listen, ask questions, and learn about the society.

River City Pride Parade, Festival & Cabaret

Saturday and Sunday

Riverside/Avondale | Jacksonville

The nonprofit Jax River City Pride is hosting its annual parade through Riverside, Avondale and Five Points this weekend. The 1.5-mile parade steps off Saturday at 2 p.m. from historic Willow Branch Park — the site of Jacksonville’s very first LGBT Pride Picnic back in 1978. Then on Sunday, the celebration continues at Riverside Park with a full day of live music, local artists, food trucks, and a Family Fun Zone. Both events are free, family-friendly and open to all ages. Then on Sunday evening, the energy turns up with an adults-only cabaret party, with performances by national music artists and performers.

Parade: Saturday: 2 p.m. | Festival: Sunday noon – 6 p.m.; Cabaret: 6 p.m.-9 p.m. | Free and open to the public | Parade route and more info
