Fat Tuesday, a former Jacksonville Landing tenant, has earned approval from City Council and the Planning Commission to open a bar and separate nightclub in Five Points.
Council approved Ordinance 2026-0560 on a 17-0 vote Tuesday, with members Raul Arias and Randy White away from the dais. The ordinance contains a zoning exception authorizing the New Orleans-based Fat Tuesday chain to sell alcohol on-premise, serve customers outside and operate a nightclub in Five Points.
The Council vote was contingent on the Planning Commission granting a waiver allowing Fat Tuesday to sell alcohol within 1,500 feet of a church. The commission approved that waiver Sept. 3.
