A teacher at River City Science Academy is charged with having a romantic relationship with a student, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says.

Jackson Jordan Hull, 25, is no longer associated with the Beach Boulevard elementary school. He remains behind bars, also facing a charge of unlawful use of a two-way device, Duval County jail records show.

Hull and the unidentified student exchanged messages using the Canva app and arranged to meet at a park on April 11, an arrest report states.

Canva is an online graphic design tool used to create social media posts, presentations, posters, videos and logos, the report said. The app has a feature that allows someone to access projects and leave notes if they have permission.

The arrest report said an unnamed person was able to review messages between the teacher and student, then went to the park and saw Hull there. The person confronted him without revealing that they knew about the messages with the student.

Police were notified and found more messages in Canva, the report said. Further investigation found that the teacher and student were alone together March 6.

The Sheriff’s Office said Hull developed “grooming behaviors” toward the student.

Hull is no longer associated with the school and “immediate action was taken in accordance with school policy and legal requirements,” Science Academy Principal Nicole Spanbaue told News4Jax, a Jacksonville Today news partner.

The age and gender of the student were not released.
