University of North Florida President Moez Limayem may be leaving the university to become president of the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Limayem sent a letter to the university community Tuesday announcing that he is the sole finalist for the president’s job at USF.
“There will be news shortly, but I want you, the Osprey community, to hear it from me,” he wrote.
He said the selection process could take several months. His appointment would have to be approved by the Florida Board of Governors.
Limayem said it was an honor to be considered for the president’s job at a university where he previously served as dean of the college of business.
Limayem came to UNF in May 2022.
“While this presidential selection news is significant, I continue to cherish every moment at UNF,” Limayem said in his letter. “Working alongside our exceptional faculty and staff, and witnessing our students’ growth, is incredibly fulfilling. I am always proud when I hear stories about how UNF and our alumni help strengthen our community.”
Limayem said he will remain committed to progress in research, student success and community engagement at UNF during the presidential search at USF.
