Companies receiving city incentives must make a “good faith effort” to hire veterans and will be given extra consideration for projects at Cecil Field under legislation approved Aug. 25 by Jacksonville City Council.

Council voted 18-0 Aug. 25 in favor of Resolution 2026-0574, which requires the city Office of Economic Development to ensure that companies receiving a Recapture Enhanced Value Grant try to hire qualified active-duty military spouses and/or veterans for a minimum of 10% of new jobs. The resolution also requires that the OED give “additional positive consideration” for incentive requests when reviewing projects at Cecil Field.
