Jacksonville-based Gate Petroleum is joining the redevelopment of the former Adventure Landing site in St. Augustine, purchasing a portion of the 7.1-acre property July 24 for $2.1 million.
Gate confirmed it has plans for a Gate Express Car Wash. There is no development timeline, a spokesperson said, but the purchase and planned use identify an end user for a more comprehensive redevelopment effort underway at the former amusement park site at 2780 Florida 16.
St. Johns County is reviewing plans to demolish the park and redevelop the property. A commercial application and site plan call for replacing the park with five outparcels, improved shared access, a new parking layout, utilities and upgraded stormwater management.
