Intuition Ale Works will auction its brewing equipment this week, less than a month after announcing that the business will shut down operations.
The auction will include fermenters, huge steel tanks and grain handling systems at its Downtown Jacksonville brewery.
Intution tried unsuccessfully to sell the brewery, beer hall and concert venue for a year before deciding to close on April 24.
The brewery began 15 years ago on King Street, then moved a decade ago to East Bay Street and A. Philip Randolph Boulevard, in Jacksonville’s Sports and Entertainment District.
In 2012, Intution became the first craft brewery in Florida to can its beers, company officials said.
Intuition’s last I-10
Intuition’s CEO, Brad Lange, confirmed that the company started its final batch of I-10 IPA a few weeks ago. That batch will be packaged next week. Intution also has additional beer in tank and still needs to package it.
Lange said there is still strong demand from bars and restaurants for draft, especially I-10, so Intuition will “continue meeting that demand as best we can,” with six-packs of all of its beers available in the taproom while supplies last.

“We’ll continue shipping kegs into the market, along with very limited quantities of six-packs,” Lange told Jacksonville Today.
“Publix dropped us last week — a huge bummer, but understandable,” Lange said. “Without Publix, there’s very little reason to keep canning at scale.”
Heritage Global Partners is handling the online auction Wednesday and Thursday. Ninty lots of equipment are listed on its sales website.
The equipment includes a number of 30-barrel and 10-barrel brewhouses, a commercial-grade brewing system. Multiple fermenting tanks, a canning machine and a keg washing system are also on the auction site, as well as multiple lots of kegs.

“There’s nationwide interest, and we expect everything to sell,” Lange said, adding that some serious bidders are touring the brewery at 929 E. Bay St..
The taproom and Bier Hall will continue operating until the final day. Everyone is “looking forward to closing things out on a high note,” Lange said.
The final show will be April 24 with Yonder Mountain String Band.
