The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels aerobatic team will not perform at this weekend’s Sea and Sky Air Show over Jacksonville because of the U.S. government shutdown, city officials confirmed late Friday.
City officials say the show will go on with multiple civilian air show participants. They include Mini Jet Airshows with pilot Tom Larkin’s BD-5J jet and the Redline Airshows’ father-son aerobatic team.
The free air show will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, centered offshore of Jacksonville Beach’s Seawalk Pavilion at 75 1st St N.
The government shutdown is entering its fourth week after House and Senate members failed to come to a compromise in a vote Thursday.
The city confirmed that it has added The Chuters parachute team to this weekend’s lineup. Additional events include the Military Recruitment Zone presented by The Boeing Company and Kids Zone with Mayor Deegan’s River City Reader Bookmobile.
Most streets in beachfront Jacksonville Beach will be closed, so a shuttle service will run from Florida State College at Jacksonville on Beach Boulevard, as well as Hicks Hall at the University of North Florida. The round-trip cost $10 per person.
