The week of The Players Championship is as big a reminder as there is that golf is a big business on the First Coast. Our Number of the Week is the amount of land that golf courses and driving ranges take up in St. Johns County: 3,450.85 acres, according to property appraiser records.

3,450.85 acres

That translates to more than 5.38 square miles. At almost 500 acres, the largest course in St. Johns is Ponte Vedra Beach’s TPC Sawgrass.

And it’s not just St. Johns residents and visitors who like to tee off in Northeast Florida. The Jacksonville Area Golf Association lists more than 40 member clubs across the First Coast.
