Funeral set for former city leader Sam Mousa

Funeral services for former city administrator and longtime public works director Sam Mousa will be Wednesday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church on Bowden Road.

Mousa, 72, died Wednesday night at Mayo Clinic before undergoing heart surgery.

Mousa began working in 1991 as the city’s director of public works and ultimately was promoted to chief administrative officer, where he served until 2003. He most recently served as chief administrative officer during the administration of Mayor Lenny Curry.

Two visitations will be held at the church — 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, preceding the funeral service. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery on San Jose Boulevard.
