New hours in effect for military food assistance

Active-duty military who rely on Jacksonville’s Food Farmacy to help feed their families should make note of its new hours.

The city’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department says free food will be distributed from 10 a.m. to noon on the second Thursday of each month — and from 2 to 4 p.m. on the fourth Thursday.

The Food Farmacy is at the Fleet Reserve Association at 390 Mayport Road in Atlantic Beach.

A valid military ID is needed to take advantage of the program.
