Lane closures extended on San Jose Boulevard

The traffic slowdowns along a busy stretch of San Jose Boulevard near Interstate 295 will continue through at least this weekend.

JEA says it hit a snag with its repairs of a water main and will close two lanes in each direction around the work site between Claire Lane and Old River Road.

The work began after a water main broke a week ago.

The utility says it needed to bring in more heavy equipment to make sure the work site is safe for workers. News4Jax reported that saturated ground made it unsafe for workers to continue the excavation without more equipment.

Your best alternate around the worksite will be to take Old St. Augustine Road.
