Publix Super Markets is expanding and renovating around Jacksonville. Here’s what’s in the works, based on reporting by the Jacksonville Daily Record, a Jacksonville Today news partner.
- Deerwood Village: Publix applied for a permit to demolish its Deerwood Village shopping center store and the adjacent CVS pharmacy at an estimated project cost of $350,000. It was one of the first Publix stores in the area when built in 1974. The city already is reviewing a permit for Publix to build a new Publix Food & Pharmacy and a separate liquor store on the site at a project cost of $9.3 million.
- Nocatee West: Publix wants to clear 18 acres in the Nocatee West shopping center that it bought May 15 for $6.66 million. The city of Jacksonville is reviewing a permit application for Publix to clear the land at 75 Irondale Road, which is south of Nocatee Parkway and west of Valley Ridge Boulevard at Burbank Avenue.
- North Jacksonville: The city issued a permit this week for Publix to remodel its North Jacksonville store at a cost of $900,000. It is at Duval Station and Starratt Roads near First Coast High School.
