Drumroll please — the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has announced the name of its new Malayan tiger cub: Mina.

The name was chosen in a public vote over two weeks. Mina (pronounced MEE-nah) was born Nov. 5 with her brother and sister.

Donors named Mina’s siblings, but the zoo let the public choose a name for the third cub. People were asked to pick from five names: Mina (meaning one who is unrelenting and determined), Cahya, Nayla, Indah and Seniya.

Voters were asked to make a donation to the zoo, which raised $6,000 from 300 submissions, Mina received 148 votes, or 49% of them.

Zoo officials say Mina and the other two new cubs, plus 10-year-old mother Cinta, can be seen on a live stream at jacksonvillezoo.org/live-animal-cams.
