Jim Love served on the Jacksonville City Council from 2011 to 2019, elected as a Republican in what was then District 14.
Raised in a military family, he attended Auburn University on a Navy ROTC scholarship and, after receiving his pilot wings in 1976, was assigned to fly the A-7E Corsair attack jet at NAS Cecil Field.
After seven years of active duty, Jim moved back to Jacksonville and joined the Naval Air Reserve. Over the next 19 years, Jim commanded units at both NAS Cecil Field and NAS Jacksonville.
Since 1983, Jim has run a State Farm Insurance agency in Riverside. His community involvement has included being president of the Downtown Council of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce; a founding board member and president of the Park and King Area Association; Chairman of the Deacons and member of Riverside Baptist Church; and a member of the Association of Naval Aviation and the Naval Reserve Association.
