A costume dance party in Fernandina Beach, a nature walk with scientists in St. Johns County, and a bike maintenance class in Jacksonville are What to Do this weekend.

Shrek Disco

Friday

The Inkwell Art Bar | Fernandina Beach

If you have a hankering for a costume party, you don’t have to wait until Halloween. This Shrek-themed disco is an all-ages party where you can dance the night away alongside other like-minded oddballs. Just come dressed as your favorite character — it’s Puss in Boots for me — to enter the costume contest and party in Shrek’s swamp.

Jacksonville Today thanks our sponsors. Become one.

7 p.m.-midnight | 1925 S. 14th St., Fernandina Beach | Free and open to the public | More info

Ocean to Estuary: A Tidal Journey

Saturday

Mainland River to the Sea Preserve Pavilion | Marineland

If you want to spend some time outside and learn about our local environment, the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve is hosting a guided walk. The hike crosses dunes, maritime forests and mangroves. Along the way, you’ll get to work directly with the science team, using field tools to test water salinity, pH, plankton, and tides to check on the ecosystem’s health. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray.

9 a.m. – 11 a.m. | 9805 N. Ocean Shore Blvd., Marineland | Free but reservations are required | Reserve a spot

Sundays at the Honey Pot Bicycle Mechanic Skillshare

Sunday

The Honey Pot Bike Collective | Mixon Town

This one is for my fellow DIYers! Do you know there is a weekly class on Sunday mornings for anyone looking to handle their own basic bicycle maintenance? This hands-on, beginner-friendly session covers skills like fixing flat tires, adjusting brakes, tuning shifters and caring for your chain. You will learn how to run basic safety inspections and figure out when a repair can be done at home versus when it needs a professional shop. Bring your own bike or work on a shop bike, and all tools are provided. No prior mechanical experience is required.

10:30 a.m. | 2370 Marie St.| Free and open to the public | More info
